Tom Norton has been a
Certified Public Accountant for more than 20 years, and is the founder and owner of Thomas Norton & Company, LLC. He specializes in individual and small business income taxes, business valuations, forensic accounting, and complex divorce cases. He is also a popular public speaker, who makes complex financial concepts seem simple.
In addition to his CPA credential, Tom has also earned four other professional designations. He is the only person in the state of Missouri to have earned all five of these designations.
Being Certified in Financial Forensics demonstrates recognition within the CPA profession of expertise in forensic accounting.
As a Certified Valuation Analyst, he can perform business valuations for a variety tax and non-tax purposes. He can be counted on to deliver an accurate and defensible valuation.
As a Certified Fraud Examiner, Tom investigates accusations of fraud and embezzlement. One application of those investigative skills is in divorce cases, tracing hidden assets or sources of income fraudulently concealed from one spouse by the other.
Tom is also a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. As a CDFA, Tom is an expert in the financial aspects of divorce. He works with attorneys and their divorcing clients to structure a fair and practical settlement. He also acts as an expert witness in those cases that go to trial.
Over the years, Tom has prepared hundreds of individual and business income tax returns, and formerly worked in the tax department of a large, international accounting firm.
In his free time, Tom holds a full commission as a Deputy Sheriff with a local Sheriff's department. As a volunteer Reserve Deputy, he devotes two nights per month to road patrol, and is on call to investigate accusations of embezzlement as needed.
He is a divorced father of three, and can often be found attending his children's sporting events and school activities, or teaching them how to drive.
